I like... My Christmas Tree.
I have had the same Christmas tree for three years now. It's an awesome skinny silver tree I purchased from a clothing store I worked at after the holidays were over one year. Every year I try to do something a little different. The first year, red and silver ornaments with white lights. The second year, pink lights with silver and black ornaments. And, this year... all silver. It's a site for sure and it makes me happy every time I look at it. Not the best photo, but it gets the job done.

I like... Nieces!!!
My sister is having a GIRL!!!
I could not be more ecstatic. I asked her to have one the first time around, and thank God she didn't because I now have the most adorable, intelligent, funny, and charming 18 month old nephew. I mean... look at this kid:

But now... she is finally delivering (no pun intended). She is due April 24th and I can't wait for that baby girl to get here. Before we found out what she was having I was terrified that she was having another boy... not because I don't want another nephew, but because I fear that I will never love another boy the way I love my Jackson. No one will ever compete. I am even fearful for my own children... they will have to be pretty amazing kids for them to live up to their cousins, I already know this. But thankfully, for now I can focus on loving this new baby girl without fear or reservation. There will be no competition because to love a little girl is so completely different than to love a little boy.
:::sigh:::
I cannot wait.
Thank you, Sister, for making me one happy Aunt!

I like... Sex and the City Series DVD Set
I literally have watched every episode of Sex and the City over a dozen times and still thoroughly enjoy watching them all. No lie. Although the first season is somewhat painful to tolerate due to the really bad hair, the poor wardrobe choices of the 90s and the dialogue directed at the camera, I still HAVE to watch the entire season before I allow myself to proceed to the goldmine of seasons 2-6.
I remember the first time Sex and the City came into my life. I was a Junior in college and my girlfriend insisted I give it a shot despite my concerns for the "pornographic nature" and "bad taste in language". That's right... that was my honest opinion. I was a tad bit more conservative in those days. She invited me over to our R.A.'s apartment (that's where the stash was located) and we started with season 2 (she didn't want me to get turned off by season one for the reasons I mentioned previously). After watching my first episode, I was hooked. It was compelling. It was like watching a performance of Cirque du Soleil... amazing tricks, costumes, and oh so entertaining, but with a slight fear that if I were to try it myself, it would lead to my demise. (But I SO wanted to try anyways...)
Unfortunately, I do not have the same love for the movies as I do for the actual series. I feel the movies are FAR too cheesy and flashy and don't have the same grit, truth, substance or humor. Just my opinion though. Now, do I own the first movie and plan to own the second? Yes. Absolutely. It's an institution I have no choice or option to leave now... I am too far in and they are all too much a part of my life. Love them.
If you have yet to see the entire series or both movies... Go. Act. Watch. Trust me.

I like... Fancy Sunglasses
I do! This is a new found love of mine and it is SUCH a guilty pleasure. I have been a major supporter of cheap, easily replaceable sunglasses for my entire life. I believed that expensive sunglasses were such a waste of money, especially with the rate that most people lost theirs. I have heard so many stories of people losing or breaking or dropping their $200 Ray Bans in the lake. Sad story and never want it to happen to me.
But I have noticed... I don't lose my sunglasses (aside from that one time I dropped a pair in the lake, but I quickly learned my lesson) nor do I break them. I am so very completely responsible when it comes to the proper care and accountability of my sunglasses. I have had one particular pair of sunglasses for over two years now. And, the current pair I sport, I have been wearing for the past six months without interruption and they only cost me $10. That's right... $10!! That's pennies a day.
So... I made the plunge. I purchased my first pair of ridiculously over-priced sunglasses. A beautiful pair of Ralph Lauren shades. And, I am SO in love. So much that I went back today and purchased a second pair of even more ridiculously over-priced Coach sunglasses. I am an addict. I am not afraid to admit it. But I have to stop there. More than two pair of sunglasses is just silly and frivolous. Honestly, who needs more than two pair? (If I'm really honest... who needs more than one?)
Here is my new pair of Coach glasses... aren't they beautiful!?!

But, I am absolutely determined to NEVER wear either pair of these sunglasses over any body of water. I have my $10 sunglasses that are designated for this task. In the event of an overboard situation, I shall not weep for a great loss...

I like... Feeling the Need.
I love that feeling. Feeling an urge and desire so greatly that it actually moves you to action. That's what this blog is for me. I felt the need to share the things I love so much in this world with all of you... and on the other side of that coin, the things I don't care for so much. Of course, I hope that this blog will be more of the former than the latter... Not sure why I have this urge or if anyone will care about my likes and dislikes... most likely not, but at least it will get off of my chest and hopefully will benefit someone out there. So, let's get it started.
My first "like"... writing. Although I stink at it, I love it dearly. I wish I were good at it. I wish I could articulately and eloquently share my thoughts with people, but it is not my gift. My gift is the visual world... not the written word. So, please put up with my poor writing and broken sentences. I will try my hardest to make it entertaining at least. One of these days I would love to take a writing course... that is on my list of things to do. So, if any of you know a good course to take, let me know.
